Dr Jure Ravnik, born in 1973, received a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Physics form the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1997. He received a Master of Science degree in Environmental protection in 2003 and a Ph. D. in mechanical engineering in 2006 for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Maribor, Slovenia.
He worked as a seismologist at the Geophysical Survey of Slovenia 1997 - 1998, as an engineer at the Ecological Engineering Institute 1998 - 2003 and as a researcher and teaching assistant at the University of Maribor (2003 - present).
His major interest is numerical methods used to simulate fluid flow and heat transfer. He specialised in boundary elements in combination with fast techniques, such as wavelet transform, fast multipole methods and adaptive cross approximation. His PhD thesis was on boundary element based simulation of turbulent natural convection with Large Eddy Simulation approach.
He authored nine SCI journal papers and 25 conference papers as well as several studies and industrial projects. He is a member of the editorial board of Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements.
